Facebook has recently made possible for its Android or iPhone users to make free voice calls to your friends. 

Facebook officially has not announced this fact to the users worldwide but has quietly made available to its Messenger app for Indians. The addition of a small "Free Call" button in the app is now available for Androids and iOS users. 

This service was introduced in US and Cananda last year, now it has spread Facebook's video calling facility feature in India too.

Facebook's "Auto Play Videos" feature will be for 15 seconds

In December 2013, Facebook had started "Auto Play Videos" for all mobile users.  According to this feature, when a user scrolls down the News Feed, the videos uploaded by advertisers are automatically played. 

This feature has widened its doors to most of the advertisers which will be 15 seconds long display on the screen. Due to this many of the visitors' attention will be grabbed resulting in the business bloom of the video advertisers. 

As per the sources, the ads are going at rates of $1 million to $2.5 million per day. Users who are the end visitors will see the video ads from late April or early May. 


Facebook trick to find out numeric code or "Name Code" of your profile name

Have you ever gone through very closely about your profile name and its important details? This does not mean about the privacy settings that you actually set while maintaining your account. But the information of knowing the "Name Code" of your profile id. 




If your profile id is as follows... www.facebook.com/xyz , then "xyz" means the profile name or id that your are using. But the name code for it is different and unique.

Step 2:  Copy the URL of your profile id

Step 4:  Enter your copied URL. You can now see the unique name code of your profile.

Facebook redesigns Fan Pages to give a new look

Facebook fan pages will get a new look as the social media giant announced the redesign of "Fan Pages" with a better and good look. 

Visitors and Page admins will experience a new look altogether of the fan page. The appearance is changed with some new additions.


Henceforth, people visiting any fan page will see different design. The new design, like earlier, will have two columns, left and right. The change made is in the right column by displaying the Page's timeline and left one will display the information of the brand or the business or the product. 

There is another change in "Invite your friends" section. This section earlier was in the right column, but now it has been moved to the left. The Create Post section or text box is shifted from left to right. In the month of January, Facebook included a Create Post button at the very top of the fan page. 

The fan page will have extra item or section included in the far right hand side of the page which will display the number of ads running, page likes, notifications, etc for current week. 













Facebook's new launch for Elections in India 2014 - The Tracker App

In India, as it is time for Elections 2014, Facebook India has announced a launch of new app called "Elections Tracker" app for selecting the right candidate. 

To be more specific, the launch will be on the occassion of "Facebook Talks Live" which will be conducted from March 4 - March 8. 

According to Facebook spokesperson, Election Tracker is a dashboard where the users will be able to watch the candidates live, can take the poll, select the issues that matter the most, etc. 

Leading candidates of 2014, now will be live on Facebook's Election Tracker app.

Effect of IM after Facebook acquired WhatsApp

As you all know, the latest and hot news last week was Facebook acquiring WhatsApp for $19 billion. In case you have missed the news!!
 
For the Android and iOS users, messaging has become easy so that they can have both. After this effect , IM on internet has captured more than 80% of the market. 

When people started using SMS, they used basic feature mobiles. When people started making new accounts in Facebook, they started chatting feature which made many keep aside SMS service and use Facebook Messenger.

No "Facebook Messenger" for Windows users ?

This message is seen by many Windows users who use Facebook Messenger to chat and connect with their friends. Facebook has started giving prompt notifications about its Messenger app in Windows phones, that the app will be shutting down on 3rd March, 2014 which was released in March 2012.
 
Only Android and iOS users have the facility to continue using Facebook messenger app. 

When a user clicks on the "Learn More" link in the message, he gets directed to generic messages.

It is stated by the Facebook spokesperson that the facility was available for Windows users just for 2 years.

End of @facebook.com email service by March 2014 as per Facebook's latest updates

Less used email service of Facebook, @facebook.com will be closed by the social media in the month of March 2014. As stated in the latest news about Facebook, it is the end of @facebook.com. 

The email service was based on your public username. For example, if your user name is abc, then email sent to your accounts' email, i.e, abc@facebook.com would be seen in Facebook messages. But now as this service is coming to an end, an email sent to this address will be forwarded to your primary email. 

To know what is your email id in Facebook, check your Account Settings -> General -> Email.

You will get a clear idea of the same. 

This email service was launched by Facebook in 2010 for providing one place where users can send or receive email. But this feature was rarely used and updated. Moreover it caused problems and troubles. 

The main reason Facebook has decided to close this service is for non usage of users. People have not used this properly. So this decision will not make any difference for people. 

A Facebook spokesperson said: "Over the next few weeks we're notifying people who use their @facebook.com email that the feature is changing. When someone sends you an email to your @facebook.com then it will no longer go to your Messages on Facebook. Instead, the email will be forwarded to the primary email address on your account." 



Facebook lets to turn off this feature. 





How to get notifications when your Facebook account is accessed from a desktop or mobile

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on why Facebook acquired WhatsApp

Facebook today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire WhatsApp, a rapidly growing cross-platform mobile messaging company, for a total of approximately USD 16 billion, including USD 4 billion in cash and approximately USD 12 billion worth of Facebook shares.

The agreement also provides for an additional USD 3 billion in restricted stock units to be granted to WhatsApp�s founders and employees that will vest over four years subsequent to closing.

There is an easiest way to get notified instantly. An extension Social Fixer in Firefox or Google Chrome displays the alert that someone just has unfriend you in Facebook. 


What you have to do is :
  • Go to Add-ons manager in Firefox or Chrome
  • Search for "Social Fixer" add on in the search bar
  • If installed then it will activate 
Note : If the add on or extension is not installed in your browser, then search it in Google and get it installed for your browser.

Latest feature in Facebook - "Create Post" button on Fan Pages

Facebook has added a small but useful feature in the fan pages, called as "Create Post" button. If you have created a fan page in your account, then being an administrator, you need to add new and fresh posts or content to your fan page. 


The "Create Post" button which is seen at the top of the fan page besides other buttons like Edit page, Insights, Hide Page, etc, is basically added for directing the admin person to go directly to the Status box, where you can add the content or post. 



Earlier you have added posts to your fan page without this button but now due to this latest feature by Facebook in 2014, one can directly start posting in the text box as the cursor is already placed inside the box and blinking for the user to type.

How to add "Google Calendar" Tab to Facebook Fan Page

In Facebook, fan page plays an important role for many individuals who use it properly for their business to expand or display information. Sometimes fan pages need other party tabs like Google Calendar that will get the details of your calendar with events scheduled. People who follow you are waiting for the schedules of any event you are organizing and they are participating.   • Log in to your Facebook account
  • Type "Simple Google Calendar Tab" in the Graph Search
  • In the site click "F Log In" button 
  • Click "My Account" tab at the top of the web page
  • Now at the right bottom corner, the list of fan pages that you have created are displayed with an option to add or edit tabs to. 
  • Select the fan page for which you want to add the tab and click the "*" symbol besides the name
  • The option will redirect you to a page which displays the tabs that are installed and not installed separately. 
  • At the right below "Apps Not Installed", select the "+" sign to add the particular tab. In this case, its Google Calendar. So click the "+" sign besides it. 
  • At the very next moment, the message is displayed as "Installation successful". 
  • Check whether the tab is installed on the fan page by opening the Facebook site on the other browser. 
  • To do so, click on the fan page and click on the pencil where the tabs are displayed. The list of tabs that are installed on this fan page is shown. Also the latest one "Google calendar" tab is also added. 
  • When you click on the Calendar tab, it displays  the following message: "This tab has not been fully configured by the administrator. Please check back later." So, you have to go to your Google Calendar and change the settings. 
  • Go to Google, and select "calendar" from the list. 
  • Log in to your Google Account
  • Click on the calendar name under your account. Click on "Manage Settings" option. 
  • Select "Share the Calendar" tab
  • Tick the check box to make the calendar public. 
  • Now lastly click "Save".

Facebook trick to embed "Google Calendar" to Facebook Group

Facebook Group that you create is specifically made for adding members or making a group of people who are interested in your topic. In a group you manage events, converse, message to each other, inform, share, etc. 

If your group is based on specific topic, then you may think of arranging some events for your members. The events need to be scheduled on some dates. For this if you have written or added the events in Google Calendar then that needs to be imported to the Facebook Group.

Google Calendar is a online calendar that keeps the record of important events.



The dates that you have marked as important for an event in your personal Google Calendar will not be seen in Facebook unless you embed the code of the calendar in to your Facebook Group.

  • Click "Link" tab 
  • Paste the URL in it
  • Click "Attach" option and type description below
  • Click "Share"


Easy and simple. Now whenever a member from your group clicks on this link then he will get the event details in the calendar.
